a) Making dimensioned freehand sketches and reading and interpreting any drawings;
b) Reading and carrying out properly welding instructions written in English and French
c) Reading and understanding blueprints prior to starting a project
d) Carrying out all welding jobs according to the strictest procedures;
e) Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
f) Working with metal inert gas (MIG) and tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding sets.
g) Reviewing blueprints, cutting metal into the appropriate shape and smoothing molten metal to remove creases
h) Sourcing the materials to be used in the project
i) Measuring and cutting materials to specifications
j) Welding materials using the correct materials to join the metals together
k) Checking finished work to make sure that it falls within the tolerances marked on the blueprints
l) Weld small and large components such as copper plumbing, beams, and pipelines.
m) Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines that perform the same job.
n) Maintain and repair all machinery.
o) Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors.
p) Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature.
