Position Overview: The Junior Accountant is responsible for assisting with day-to-day accounting tasks, including recording financial transactions, maintaining financial records, and supporting the preparation of financial reports. This role provides foundational accounting support and helps ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial data. The Junior Accountant works closely with senior accountants and the finance team to facilitate efficient financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping:
- Record daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including invoices, receipts, and bank statements.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial documents for audit and compliance purposes.
Bank Reconciliation:
- Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure that cash balances in accounting records match bank statements.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between accounting records and bank statements.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Process vendor invoices and employee expense reports, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments to ensure timely collections.
- Prepare and send invoices to customers, ensuring that all billing is accurate and completed on time.
Support in Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support senior accountants in the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Help in analyzing financial data and preparing reports for management review.
Compliance and Audit Support:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing requested documentation and information.
- Help in the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
