Job Summary :

  • Coding
    Medical coders assign codes to patient encounters, such as CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and ASA codes. They also ensure that codes are sequenced correctly and in compliance with government and insurance regulations. 
     
    Patient records
    Medical coders extract relevant information from patient records, maintain up-to-date patient information, and ensure that medical records are filed and processed correctly. 
     
    Communication
    Medical coders communicate with physicians, nurses, support staff, and insurance companies. They also advise and train physicians and staff on medical coding. 
     
    Compliance
    Medical coders ensure compliance with medical coding policies and guidelines, as well as payer policies and regulations from the Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
