Roles and responsibilities:

1. 1. IEC Registration:

   • Obtain an Import Export Code (IEC) from the DGFT. 
   • This is a 10-digit code mandatory for all import and export activities. 
   • The application is filed online on the DGFT website. 

2. 2. ICEGATE Registration:

   • Register on the ICEGATE portal using your IEC. 
   • This portal facilitates electronic filing of import documents and online payment of duties. 

3. 3. Document Preparation:

   • Prepare the necessary documents for your import, such as the Bill of Entry, invoice, packing list, etc. 
   • The Bill of Entry is a declaration that contains details of the imported goods, including value, quantity, and other relevant information. 

4. 4. Online Filing:

   • Log in to the ICEGATE portal and navigate to the relevant section for filing import documents. 
   • Upload the prepared documents and submit them electronically. 

5. 5. Online Payment:

   • Once the documents are submitted, you will be able to make online payments for customs duties and other charges through the ICEGATE portal. 
   • You can use net banking, debit cards, or credit cards for online payments. 

6. 6. Tracking and Monitoring:

   • You can track the status of your import filing and monitor the progress of your shipment through the ICEGATE portal. 
   • You can also track the payment status and other relevant information.
