Job Summary: The QC Lab Assistant plays an essential role in maintaining the quality and integrity of laboratory testing and processes. They are responsible for assisting in various tasks related to sample preparation, instrument maintenance, data recording, and adherence to quality control protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sample Preparation:
- Receive, label, and prepare samples for analysis according to established procedures.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of samples to prevent contamination or degradation.
- Instrument Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate laboratory equipment and instruments used in testing.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
- Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or issues.
- Quality Control Testing:
- Assist in conducting quality control tests on samples to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Document test results and maintain accurate records.
- Data Recording and Analysis:
- Record test data, observations, and results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist in data analysis and interpretation as directed by the QC team.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of laboratory activities and test results.
- Assist in maintaining documentation required for quality certifications and audits.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor and replenish laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables.
- Keep inventory records up to date and report supply shortages.
- Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other team members and scientists to achieve project goals and timelines.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arise.
- Quality Assurance:
- Assist in implementing and maintaining quality assurance protocols and procedures.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Training and Development:
- Stay updated on laboratory techniques, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or relevant laboratory certification is a plus.
- Previous experience in a laboratory or quality control setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
- Basic understanding of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Proficiency in using laboratory software and data entry systems.
