Core responsibilities

• Ore processing: Develop and implement methods for separating valuable minerals from waste (gangue).
• Process optimization: Design, analyze, and improve ore dressing plants and processes for maximum efficiency and profitability.
• Testing and analysis: Conduct laboratory and pilot plant experiments on ore samples to determine the best processing techniques.
• Quality control: Analyze mineral content and concentrate quality to ensure the final product meets specifications.
• Equipment management: Oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment such as crushers, grinders, flotation cells, and magnetic separators.
• Safety and environmental compliance: Ensure all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Collaboration: Work with geologists, mining engineers, and other professionals to understand ore bodies and develop strategies.
• Reporting: Prepare technical reports and documentation on processing operations. 

Essential skills and knowledge

• Technical expertise: Deep understanding of mineral processing, including techniques like crushing, grinding, flotation, and magnetic separation.
• Analytical skills: Ability to analyze ore samples, process data, and interpret results to improve operations.
• Problem-solving: Aptitude for troubleshooting and finding solutions to processing challenges.
• Engineering and science: Knowledge of geology, mineralogy, metallurgy, and chemical engineering principles.
• Project management: Experience in designing plants and scaling up operations from laboratory to full production.
