Position Summary
The Operations Head will be responsible for end-to-end plant operations, ensuring efficient production, optimal utilization of resources, high-quality standards, cost optimization, and timely delivery. This strategic leadership role requires strong execution capabilities to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and scalable growth aligned with domestic expansion and export objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Production Management
Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations across Fabrication, Machining, Assembly, and Painting.
Ensure achievement of production targets with respect to volume, quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
Develop and implement effective production planning, scheduling, and capacity utilization strategies.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and TPM.
2. Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure adherence to defined quality standards, SOPs, and customer specifications.
Strengthen quality systems to meet domestic and international export requirements.
Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, environmental, and labor regulations.
3. Cost & Resource Optimization
Control manufacturing costs through process optimization, waste reduction, and efficiency improvement.
Plan and manage operational budgets covering manpower, maintenance, utilities, and overheads.
Optimize inventory levels of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
4. Maintenance & Infrastructure Management
Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance to ensure high machine uptime.
Ensure optimal utilization of plant infrastructure and utilities.
Plan and execute capacity expansion, layout improvements, and new machinery installations in line with business growth.
5. Team Leadership & People Management
Lead, mentor, and develop department heads, engineers, supervisors, and shop-floor teams.
Establish a performance-driven culture with defined KPIs, accountability, and continuous skill development.
Support succession planning and leadership development for critical roles.
6. Supply Chain & Cross-Functional Coordination
Coordinate with Procurement, Stores, and Logistics for smooth material flow and production continuity.
Work closely with Sales, Design, and R&D teams for new product development, customization, and launch support.
Ensure timely dispatches and support export documentation and compliance requirements.
7. Strategic Planning & MIS Reporting
Support senior leadership in strategic planning, operational reviews, and expansion initiatives.
Prepare and present MIS reports covering productivity, quality, cost, safety, and manpower metrics.
Identify operational risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum 15 years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in agricultural machinery, tractors, or heavy engineering.
Strong exposure to fabrication, machining, assembly, and painting operations.
Proven experience managing large shop-floor teams and multi-department plants.
Sound knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, quality systems, and safety standards.
Experience in export-oriented manufacturing will be a strong advantage.
