A KST (Kitchen Stewarding) Supervisor oversees kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, equipment, and staff, managing dishwashing, sanitation, inventory, and waste disposal while supporting chefs and service teams for smooth back-of-house operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and efficient resource use. Key duties include leading stewarding teams, maintaining spotless areas, managing supplies, and coordinating with kitchen staff for a safe and efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sanitation & Hygiene: Ensure all kitchen, storage, and waste areas meet high cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Operations: Oversee dishwashing, equipment cleaning, supply management, and garbage disposal.
- Inventory & Supplies: Manage stock, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of food and equipment.
- Support: Assist chefs and service staff with utensil availability and other kitchen needs.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, maintain equipment, and report maintenance issues.
- Cost Control: Control portion sizes, minimize waste, and manage resources efficiently.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, schedule, train, and motivate the stewarding staff.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in kitchen stewarding, often with prior supervisory roles.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards (HACCP).
- Ability to perform physical tasks, lift items, and stand for extended periods.
