Job Summary :

Key Responsibilities

Senior Account Managers usually handle these core duties (based on common postings and descriptions):

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for a portfolio of high-value / strategic clients
  • Build and maintain long-term, trust-based relationships with clients (including C-level executives)
  • Develop and execute account growth strategies, including upselling, cross-selling, and identifying expansion opportunities
  • Monitor client health, risks, satisfaction (e.g., via NPS/CSAT), and overall portfolio performance
  • Collaborate with internal teams (sales, product, marketing, support, finance) to deliver solutions that meet client needs and exceed expectations
  • Prepare and present strategic plans, quarterly business reviews (QBRs), performance reports, and proposals
  • Negotiate contracts, renewals, pricing, and scope changes
  • Achieve or exceed revenue/retention targets for assigned accounts
  • Identify and resolve issues proactively to minimize churn
  • Mentor and guide junior Account Managers or team members (in larger organizations)
  • Stay updated on client industry trends, competitor activity, and how to position the company's offerings
Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 510+ years in account management, client services, sales, or relationship management (with proven success managing key accounts)
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (often in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field); MBA or relevant certifications can be a plus
