The Diamond Grader is responsible for accurately evaluating, grading, and certifying diamonds according to established gemological standards. The role ensures consistency, precision, and integrity in diamond quality assessment, supporting business operations, customer trust, and compliance with international grading standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Grade diamonds based on the 4Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight
· Examine loose diamonds and mounted stones using gemological tools (loupe, microscope, color master sets, proportion scope, etc.)
· Identify natural, treated, synthetic, and imitation diamonds
· Accurately measure and record diamond characteristics and proportions
· Verify diamond authenticity and detect treatments (HPHT, CVD, irradiation, fracture filling, etc.)
· Prepare and maintain detailed grading reports and documentation
· Ensure grading consistency in line with GIA / IGI / HRD or internal standards
· Maintain strict quality control and ethical grading practices
· Handle diamonds with care and ensure security protocols are followed
· Collaborate with production, sales, and inventory teams as needed
· Stay updated on new grading techniques, treatments, and industry developments
Required Qualifications
· Formal education or certification in Gemology (GIA, IGI, HRD, or equivalent)
· Proven experience as a Diamond Grader (typically 1–3 years, depending on level)
· Strong knowledge of diamond grading standards and terminology
· Excellent attention to detail and consistency
· High level of integrity, accuracy, and ethical judgment
· Ability to work under deadlines while maintaining precision
Technical Skills
· Proficient in using gemological instruments
· Knowledge of diamond manufacturing and polishing effects
· Familiarity with grading software and inventory systems
· Ability to differentiate natural vs lab-grown diamonds
