Key Responsibilities

• Product Design & Customization:

  • Design and develop structural frameworks, equipment locker layouts, co-polymer/metal tanks, and ergonomic cabin extensions based on technical tenders or customer specifications.

  • Design efficient, high-pressure water and foam piping layouts ensuring minimal pressure drop and space optimization.

  • Integrate critical powertrain/driveline components such as Power Take-Off (PTO) units, drivelines, and centrifugal fire pumps onto commercial chassis (e.g., Tata, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra).

• Engineering Calculations & Validation:

  • Perform independent calculations for vehicle weight distribution, axel loading, and center of gravity (CG) to ensure stability and compliance with RTO regulations.

  • Conduct flow and pressure drop calculations for piping systems and hydraulic circuits.

  • Assist in performing basic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on structural frames and mounting brackets to ensure structural integrity under dynamic vehicle loads.

• BOM & Document Control:

  • Generate and manage highly accurate production-ready Bills of Materials (BOM) within ERP/PLM systems.

  • Implement and document Engineering Change Notes (ECN/ECO) to continuously improve product quality and reduce manufacturing costs.

  • Ensure all designs comply with national and international firefighting standards (such as IS 951, IS 6067, or NFPA regulations).

• Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Guide and review 2D detailed drawings drafted by junior design engineers or trainees, ensuring correct application of GD&T and welding symbols.

  • Actively collaborate with the production team on the shop floor to resolve assembly deviations, prototype issues, and manufacturing constraints.

  • Coordinate with vendors and procurement teams to select and evaluate standardized components like valves, monitors, actuators, and electronic control modules.
