Job Summary :

Role Summary

The client is looking for a ServiceNow CSDM / CMDB Specialist (Hybrid Admin Functional Lead). This is not a pure developer role and not a basic CMDB admin role, but a hybrid role combining strong CSDM functional expertise with hands-on ServiceNow / CMDB knowledge.

Engagement Details

 Initiative: Full CSDM implementation (CSDM 5)

Key Responsibilities

1. CSDM Implementation & Planning

Plan and execute end-to-end CSDM implementation using the CSDM 5 framework

Assess current CMDB and partially implemented CSDM artifacts and redesign to align with standard CSDM model

Work closely with the client to drive framework adoption through the year

 

2. CMDB & Application Services Expertise
 Strong understanding of Business Applications, Application Services, and CMDB relationships

Guide migration from heavily customized Business Applications to standardized Application Service modeling

Identify out-of-the-box (OOB) fields vs. existing custom fields and advise which can be retired

Design and validate correct service and relationship hierarchy

 3. Tool-Level / Backend Knowledge (Non-Developer)

Deep familiarity with ServiceNow CMDB tables, forms, configurations, and OOB capabilities

Ability to explain available fields, data structures, and relationships within the platform

Translate functional CSDM requirements into clear build instructions for developers

Partner with developers for actual configuration/builds (not expected to code extensively)

 4. Operational Ownership

Act as the primary CSDM point of contact for the client

Support day-to-day design decisions and ongoing refinement

Provide continuity and backup knowledge beyond implementation

Required Skill Set / Experience

Prior hands-on CSDM implementation experience (at least one implementation preferred)

Experience with CSDM 4 acceptable; CSDM 5 experience strongly preferred

Strong CMDB fundamentals: data modeling, relationships, service mapping concepts

Ability to operate as a functional technical bridge between the business and developers

ServiceNow platform knowledge beyond UI-level administration

 What This Role Is NOT

Not a pure ServiceNow developer

Not limited to CMDB operational tickets or MID server support

Not a part-time or shared resource

Key Differentiator vs Existing CMDB Admin Roles

While existing CMDB resources are handling operations and platform maintenance, this role requires CSDM design authority, framework-level decision making, and strategic modeling expertise.
