Role Overview: A Shuttering Carpenter is responsible for constructing, assembling, erecting, and dismantling formwork (shuttering) used for casting concrete structures such as columns, beams, slabs, and foundations. The role ensures that structures are built as per drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities: -
- Study and interpret construction drawings and shuttering layouts
- Measure, cut, and assemble formwork using wood, plywood, steel systems
- Install shuttering for columns, beams, slabs, staircases, and foundations
- Ensure alignment, leveling, and stability of formwork before concreting
- Apply release agents and ensure proper finishing
- Dismantle shuttering safely after concrete curing
- Perform repair and maintenance of shuttering materials
- Follow workplace safety norms and PPE usage
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and bar benders
