Retail Trainer – DDU-GKY Programme

Key Responsibilities

A. Training Delivery

• Deliver classroom-based and practical training for the assigned retail job role in accordance with the approved curriculum, lesson plans, and batch schedule.
• Train candidates in customer service, retail store operations, visual merchandising, billing and Point of Sale (POS) systems, inventory management, stock handling, product knowledge, and sales techniques.
• Conduct role-plays, simulated store activities, demonstrations, and practical exercises to develop workplace readiness.
• Integrate soft skills, communication, basic digital literacy, financial literacy, and English language training wherever required under the approved curriculum.
• Ensure completion of prescribed training hours and maintain the required training schedule.

B. Candidate Assessment and Performance

• Conduct regular formative assessments, mock tests, practical evaluations, and feedback sessions.
• Prepare candidates for third-party assessments and certification in accordance with applicable NSQF-aligned qualification requirements.
• Monitor individual learning progress and provide remedial training to candidates requiring additional support.
• Maintain assessment records and track candidate performance.
• Contribute towards achieving programme targets related to training completion, certification, placement, and retention.

C. Placement and Industry Linkages

• Coordinate with the placement team to prepare candidates for employment opportunities in the retail sector.
• Conduct resume preparation, interview preparation, workplace grooming, and employability sessions.
• Support employer interactions, industry visits, on-the-job training, and practical exposure activities, wherever applicable.
• Assist in post-placement follow-up and candidate employment tracking as required by the programme.

D. Compliance and Documentation

• Maintain accurate daily attendance records, including biometric, geo-tagged, or live attendance records wherever applicable.
• Maintain lesson plans, training registers, batch records, assessment records, candidate files, and other prescribed documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable DDU-GKY SOPs, MoRD guidelines, training requirements, and audit and inspection procedures.
• Submit MIS data, progress reports, and other required updates to the Centre Manager within the prescribed timelines.
